Polymer Clay Jewellery

Lisa first became interested in polymer clay in the early 1990s when in a shop selling beads she came across a book ‘The New Clay’ by Nan Roche; She dipped into that, bought it, and from that moment was hooked! At the time she had a gallery in Burford selling watercolours, pastels etc (any works on paper but not oils), so she started making items in polymer clay and selling them alongside what she was already making in semi-precious stone, bone, wood, silver etc. At this time she was also working as a picture editor for Oxford University Press and by about 1995 became so busy working on The Oxford History of Art series that she had to abandon polymer clay, apart from some weekend courses organised by Alison Gallant. Finally, after she had mostly retired and moved to Fairford in 2018 (then suddenly locked down due to Covid- 19) the ideal moment arose to start again. From that moment she started making pendants, beads and necklaces in polymer clay as well as silver etc. mentioned above.
